The Beatnuts Announce First London Show In 10 Years
by Bhavna Malkani (AllHipHop News) Hip-Hop duo The Beatnuts are heading to the United Kingdom for the first time in 10 years.
This summer, Psycho Les and JuJu will perform in London as well as the Outlook Festival in Croatia.
According to an interview issued exclusively for AllHipHop.com by UK music company, Vagabondz, the Beatnuts expressed their appreciation for UK Hip-Hop.
“Yes for sure (we listen to UK Hip-Hop) S.A.S Gang all day,” the group said in a joint statement.
The Beatnuts are due to release Liknuts with West Coast group, Tha Alkaholiks. A release date is currently not available.
So far, the following dates have been confirmed for The Beatnuts European tour:
August 30 – Outlook Festival – Fort Punta Christo Pula, Croatia
August 31 – Jazz Cafe – London, UK
The Beat Junkies Return to London for 20th Anniversary Show
by Bhavna Malkani (AllHipHop News) On Thursday night (August 24) the legendary DJ crew, the Beat Junkies performed at London’s Jazz Cafe, as part of their 20th anniversary world tour.
The event featured four of the Beat Junkies DJ’s; Rhettmatic, Melo-D, DJ Babu and Beat Junkies founder J.Rocc, who created the crew in 1992.
The night also included support from UK DJ Spin Doctor.
The West Coast Hip-Hop crew spun a four-hour set which included a treasure trove of beats, scratches and rhymes as well as a tribute to the late J.Dilla.
Earlier this year, clothing company LRG released “For The Record,” a short film highlighting the Beat Junkies’ influence in Hip-Hop and DJ culture.

Dr. Dre Inks Development Deal With FX Network For New Crime Drama
by JP DelaCuesta (AllHipHop News) Rapper, producer, and entrepreneur Dr. Dre is officially in business with FX, and is developing a brand-new drama with the network, according to THR.
The site reports that “[FX] has inked a script development deal with writer Sidney Quashi and music mogul Dr. Dre for a drama pilot. The one-hour project, set in present-day Los Angeles, explores both the music business and crime business.”
Quashie will serve as the creator of the show, as well as one its executive producers, alongside Dr. Dre.
The deal will involve Dr. Dre’s Crucial Films/Crucial TV company, which was originally launched in 2007 with New Line Cinema, and now currently rests under Warner Bros.
Currently, FX is airing new seasons of the critically acclaimed show, “Wilfred and Louie”, while the network’s highly anticipated fifth season of its biker show, “Sons of Anarchy”, will premiere on September 11.
More details about Dr. Dre’s involvement and the show itself are expected in the near future.
