Posted by ChasinDatPaper (thisis50.com)

With the big game just a week away the time is right for fans to make their picks on who will win Super Bowl 46.
The New York Giants (12-7) are led by quarterback Eli Manning, who threw for 4933 yards and 29 touchdowns this season with 16 interceptions.
The New England Patriots (15-3) are led by quarterback Tom Brady. Brady threw for 5235 yards and 39 touchdowns with 12 interceptions.

The Patriots defense has allowed 21.4 points per game, forced 34 turnovers while sacking the oppositions quarterback 40 times.
On The flip side, the Giants defense has given up 25 points per game, forced 31 turnovers and gotten to the other team's quarterback 48 times.

In the coaching department both teams are more than solid. With a slight edge  going to the Patriots. Bill Belichick has coached the Patriots to five Super Bowls, coming away with three rings.
Tom Coughlin of the Giants has led them to only one Super Bowl in his eight years as head coach for them, but it was an epic win over the Patriots in Super Bowl 42. The underdog Giants beat the Patriots 17-14 to prevent the Pats from going undefeated that season.

All the talking is almost done now. Both teams are making their final preparations for the game that will be played on Sunday, February 5 at 6:20 PM ET. It will air live on NBC.
The Patriots are 3-point betting favorites in Las Vegas.

Producer Cardiak Talks New Rick Ross Album “God Forgives, I Don’t”; Working with Kanye

by jakecrates

(AllHipHop News) Georgia born/South Jersey bred producer Cardiak recently caught up with AllHipHop.com to gave an update on his most recent work.
Cardiak launched his career with the song “Start it Up” by Lloyd Banks ft Kanye West, Swizz Beatz, Fabolous and Ryan Leslie.
Since then, Cardiak has been busy putting in work, most recently landing his second hit with “600 Benz,” featuring Wale and Rick Ross.
“I’ve been producing since 2008, but my success didn’t really pop off until I reached out to G-Unit and ‘Start it Up,’ with Lloyd Banks came out,” Cardiak told AllHipHop.com. “I just played the internet on Twitter and Facebook, just reaching out to A&Rs, remained humble, remained consistent and I really don’t talk much. I just thank God for all my success.”
The Willingborough, NJ producer is now consistently working with some of the top artists in the game.
In addition to contributing to Rick Ross’ upcoming official album God Forgives I Don’t, Cardiak is working with Fabolous on Loso’s Way 2, while securing work with G-Unit and Kid Ink.
“I got two joints on there from what he told me, both of the beats are mad different, and one of them is soul sample type joint, the other one is a some left field type shit, I’m just waiting for it to come out. I’ve been working with Fab on Loso’s Way 2, G-Unit, 50 Cent and Banks.”
Interestingly enough, while Cardiak’s music often sounds like anthems that were produced for arena’s, the producer has quite a small pre-production set up, to make his huge sounding hits.
“It really doesnt matter what you use these days as long as you got a talent.”
Cardiak’s production aesthetics come from his experiences with Kanye West in the studio.
“Well, you know he was on ‘Start it Up’ and I had the opportunity to work with him on ‘Watch the Throne,’ album. Unfortunately I didn’t make the album, but it was still a great experience, because I was in the studio with him. he’s real energetic and it even made me step my whole sh*t up working with Kanye,” Cardiak recalled.

Websites Go Offline To Protest Proposed SOPA & PIPA Internet Censorship Bills

Posted by ChasinDatPaper (thisis50.com)
Thousands of websites, including some of the most popular, are going dark today to protest the Stop Online Piracy Act, a bill which is designed to thwart copyright infringement but that Web experts warn could threaten the functionality of the Internet.
Encyclopedia giant Wikipedia, popular news-sharing site reddit, browser pioneer Mozilla, photo-sharing favorite Twitpic and even ICanHazCheezburger.com are blocking access to content throughout Wednesday, symbolizing what the bill may allow content creators to do to sites they accuse of copyright infringement. Other websites, including Google, are expressing solidarity with the protests by featuring anti-SOPA content on home pages.

The online protests are being joined by a physical demonstration in New York City, where thousands of representatives from the city's tech industry plan to demonstrate outside the offices of Sens. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Kristen Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), co-sponsors of the Senate version of SOPA, beginning at 12:30 p.m. As pressure has mounted, both have expressed willingness to compromise.

SOPA would give both the government and major corporations the power to shut down entire websites accused of copyright infringement with neither a trial nor a traditional court hearing. The legislation is aggressively backed by Hollywood movie studios and major record labels, along with several major news providers, including Fox News and NBC-Universal, which have largely shied away from coverage of the bill.

The burst of opposition to SOPA and its Senate companion, Protect IP (or PIPA, for short), has caught many lawmakers, who thought they were endorsing a fairly non-controversial anti-piracy bill with strong corporate support, off guard. Senate co-sponsors of the bill regrouped on Tuesday, huddling in the Capitol with major industry backers of the bill.

In December, HuffPost reported that Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), a Protect IP co-sponsor with deep ties to both Hollywood and the technology industry, thought disputes between two of her most prominent corporate constituencies had been worked out. After that story ran, Feinstein attempted to broker a compromise, calling both tech companies and film studios.

Walt Disney Co. President and CEO Bob Iger declined the invitation on behalf of content providers. "Hollywood did not feel that a meeting with Silicon Valley would be productive at this time," said a spokesperson. The meeting took place with only tech companies present. Feinstein, once a reliable vote for the existing version of Protect IP, is now working hard to amend the bill, according to Senate Democratic aides.
But finding common ground is more difficult in this case than in most intra-corporate squabbles, because the two sides -- or powerful elements within them, at least -- have largely irreconcilable world views. One senior Senate aide said that the technology side consistently refuses to specify precise changes they want to the bill. Indeed, improving the bill would be counterproductive if the ultimate goal is killing it outright -- which it certainly is for many elements of the anti-SOPA coalition.

"That's a high-stakes risk," said the senior aide, "because if they don't have 41 votes, then what?"

By pitting nearly the entire tech industry against corporate Capitol Hill insiders from Hollywood, SOPA has prompted a tremendous wave of lobbying in Washington, accompanied by a flood of campaign contributions ahead of the 2012 elections. More than 1,000 lobbyists are currently registered to juice lawmakers on the bill.

The proposed legislation has startled tech experts and free speech advocates, who warn that the anti-piracy tactics envisioned by the bill would bring about widespread censorship of legitimate content and hamper important cybersecurity measures.

"The solutions are draconian. There’s a bill that would require [Internet service providers] to remove URLs from the Web, which is also known as censorship last time I checked," said Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt during a November speech.

The online blackout protests are rankling the Motion Picture Association of America, a lobbying group for the five biggest American film studios, which has lost significant support for its favorite bill in Washington over the past few months. MPAA Chairman Chris Dodd, a former Democratic senator from Connecticut and close friend of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada), ripped the blackout in a Tuesday blog post, which tech advocates view as evidence that Hollywood is threatened by the effort.

"Some technology business interests are resorting to stunts that punish their users or turn them into their corporate pawns," wrote Dodd , who represents News Corp., Time-Warner, Sony and Disney. "It is an irresponsible response and a disservice to people who rely on them for information and use their services. It is also an abuse of power given the freedoms these companies enjoy in the marketplace today."

"This is a signal that Hollywood is really rattled by these protests and worried about where this bill is heading," said Josh Levy, Internet campaign director for FreePress.org, a nonprofit media watchdog group.

Hip-Hop Rumors: NO I.D. Refused to Work with Biggie and Big Pun Because of Common?

by Sydney Lace (ALLHIPHOP.COM)
Super producer NO I.D. turned down the opportunity to work with Biggie, Big Pun, and Ghostface Killah, all out of loyalty to Common! What a dunce! The producer recently revealed the mishap in a recent interview with XXL magazine. Read what he said below:
“After Resurrection I was getting calls for people to do work with me and I was turning it down,” “I got a call that Biggie wanted to hear some beats, Ghostface [Killah] and Big Pun. I’m like, Nah, I produce for Common. This is like Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth. At that time I didn’t even conceptualize trying to make beats, or produce for other people. It wasn’t even in my mind. I viewed myself as part of a group.”
Man, imagine Biggie over a NO I.D. beat! That would have been some straight ear candy!

Pharrell Williams Records “I Am Other” Theme With HMI Orchestra

by jcuest
(AllHipHop News) Footage was released earlier today (January 15) on Neptunes fan site TheNeptunes.org of Grammy Award-winning producer Pharrell Williams recording with the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music’s H.M.I. Orchestra, on a new theme titled “I Am Other.”
Williams, who hired the all-student Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra after a recommendation from legendary producer and composer Quincy Jones, recorded the “I Am Other” theme last September.
He composed the mixed-genre orchestral work—which features soft and ethereal atmospheres, contrasted with fortissimo brass themes and driving rhythms—to explore a different side of his musical creativity.
He also encouraged his Hip-Hop fan base to expand their musical horizons.
The theme was recorded at the University of Miami’s Gusman Concert Hall and was orchestrated and conducted by Shelly Berg with the assistance of Paul Griffith, Director of Recording Services at the Frost School of Music, who acted as the session’s recording engineer.

Beats By Dre Severing Ties With Monster Cable; Plan For Future

by JP DelaCuesta
(AllHipHop News) The rapidly-growing headphone market just got some big news at the 2012 International CES Tradeshow over the weekend. Beats By Dre co-founders Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine will no longer be working with Monster Cable Products on future endeavors and product lines.
Iovine recently spoke on the separation of the two very successful companies to Billboard.biz: “We had a few business things that you have when you work with a guy for five years. But we’ve grown so fast we have to be nimble, to control our own destiny. It was always structured that way.”
In case you haven’t noticed, in the past few years, headphones have become just the tip of the iceberg for the Beats By Dre brand. The technology can be found in select Hewlett-Packard PC’s and laptops, Chrysler’s 300 S Sedan, the soon to be released 2012 Dodge Charger, and on HTC smartphones. HTC, actually own a 51 percent majority stake in the company after their $300 million investment in Beats last summer.
It is notable that Monster reportedly had nothing to do with the deals struck between Beats and Chrysler, HP, or HTC, and that, according to Iovine, ”Beats will act as its own manufacturer going forward,” which is big news in itself. Iovine added, ”We are purely on a mission to fix audio for every record company for every artist around the world. We have to turn this thing around and we’re starting to.
“NPD group recently valued Beats as accounting for more than half of the $1 billion headphone market in 2011, which would place their product sales in the $500 million range.” Iovine says the company will focus on staffing up in 2012 while actively talking to other potential partners and device manufacturers,” according to Billboard.biz.
Iovine was asked about a number of the other headphone lines that have been released as of late. Artists like Ludacris, 50 Cent, and RZA, have all worked with companies in the past year to create their own unique brand of headphones.”Some of our competitors are cheap engineers who have never been to a recording studio. You can’t just stick someone’s name on a headphone that doesn’t know anything about sound.”

Monster Will No Longer Make Beats Headphones

posted by corein / thisis50.com
Beats audio has become a pretty familiar brand around these parts: in addition to the ubiquitous headphones, the company has licensed its brand to HP and is majority owned by HTC — both of which manufacture an increasing number of Beats-branded products. Regardless, it's the headphones that built the brand, and the future of who will be manufacturing them is a little more cloudy today as Beats and Monster will not be renewing their contract.
Sources told Business Week that the split happened because of a disagreement over (what else?) money and credit, with each company believing it deserved more of both.

Monster, for its part, is going to move ahead and attempt to (re)build a headphone empire based on the Monster brand. That's the short term plan. The long term plan isn't clear but one fairly obvious move would be to merge with or buy out SOL Republic, a headphone company founded by Kevin Lee who happens to be son of Monster founder Noel Lee. Lee the younger, despite running his competing headphone brand, has said that he would be "honored' to take over the leading role of Monster someday, adding "Cut me open, I’m a monster and will always be a monster." Given Monster's mixed brand image (especially amongst anybody who know about cables), a partnership with SOL Republic would make a lot of sense.

Beats also has a murky future. The company will surely continue to license its brand out, but who will make headphones is unclear. It just so happens to be majority owned by HTC and HTC just so happens to be a manufacturer of consumer electronics. Even if HTC and Beats don't decide to go down that road, you can be sure that given the amount of money and marketshare that Beats has managed to snatch up, they'll find a way to ensure that there are many many more Beats-branded headphones to come.

10 NEW REASONS WHY YOU AINT A DJ - PART 2

MOBB DEEP : Start of Ur Ending

J. Cole Commentary

JANUARY 9TH 2012 CHI-ILL "UNFUKWITABLE" HOSTED BY BIGGA RANKIN @ WWW.MIXXMOBB.COM WWW.CHI-ILL.COM

Like wind, CHI-ILL's presence naturally breezes through the entertainment industry carrying with it the mark of a future legend. CHI-ILL's unique artistry, versatility and humility allow him to deliver entertainment with meaning. Hip Hop legends have recognized his talent and CHI-ILL has recorded with icons such as KOOL G RAP and multi platinum producer DAME GREASE.

Hailing from Chicago, CHI-ILL encountered and overcame many socio-economic challenges that face too many of today's inner city youths. These, along with other life experiences, motivated CHI-ILL to broadcast his gift of lyricism and spread his message of perseverance and triumph to the masses. CHI-ILL first earned his stripes on Chicago's underground rap battle scene, where he attained an impeccable record.

Building on that success, CHI-ILL aligned himself with Chicago's Heavy Hitter DJ NONSTOP. Together they released several mix-tape albums which achieved major distribution throughout the Chicago area which in turn generated national attention. The culmination of these releases was the 4 Corners Mix Tape which was recognized and endorsed by Heavy Hitter DJ legends, DJ ENUFF, DJ FELLI FEL, DJ NONSTOP and DJ PROSTYLES. Moreover, as a result of his talent and through the support of dedicated colleagues and fans, CHI-ILL filmed the "Hold Me Back" video which remains one of the largest independent Hip-Hop video productions filmed in Chicago.

In addition, CHI-ILL's remarkable stage presence and ability to engage a crowd produced many accolades in CHI-ILL's career such as touring as an opening act with headliner DMX, being a finalist in the 2006 Cuervoton talent search, having his strengths recognized as a performer at the 2009 Latin Mixx Awards and being ecstatically embraced by many fans in venues throughout the country, from Anchorage to New York City.

Most importantly, CHI-ILL's dedication to his community is well documented. CHI-ILL continues to use his talent and respect to reach out and guide at risk youths in his community and to negotiate and encourage peace among warring gangs in Chicago.

In 2010, CHI-ILL successfully released "The Last Chance Lounge" on i-Tunes which contained the single "Ready For War" featuring KOOL G RAP.  Most recently, CHI-ILL composed the lyrics for all the original songs of a new and innovative theatrical musical entitled "Freedom."  "Freedom" through plot twisting dialogue and intense lyrics brings awareness to injustice while making theater more attractive to a wider audience.

With his music being well received on a variety of websites, including Thisis50.com, HipHopDX.com, AllHipHop.com, DJBooth.net, Hip-Hopkings.com and Chicago's premier blog FakeShoreDrive.com the time has come for CHI-ILL to be recognized as a global sensation. So with the gusts of the windy city behind him, CHI-ILL's undeniable talent will prominently position him on the world's stage.

Scott Storch Back in the Studio?

by Sydney Lace From Allhiphip.com
Lookie what we have here. It looks like former superstar producer Scott Storch has finally gotten himself clean and sober and is back in the studio putting in work. Storch is famously known for producing monster number one records for everyone from Beyonce to Lil’Wayne, and then snorting more than $30 million of it up his nose, as well as foolishly giving former girlfriends Paris Hilton a two million dollar necklace and Lil’ Kim a Bentley! Talk about trickin’! Side note: That Bentley he gave Kim was later repossessed! Oopsie’s!
A video has just surfaced of Storch back in the studio. He looks like he gained about 30 pounds (which is good, considering), and he looks to be joined by one of the Dirty Money girls, but I could be wrong. Check him out creating a new beat in the video below.
